Dear Emily Carr Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to all of the staff, students and families of Emily Carr Public School as your new Principal.  I am remarkably impressed by the positive learning environment and strong sense of community which has made my transition to serving the school community one which I am both excited about and proud to lead.

A warm welcome to all the students, new and returning and a special welcome to a number of new staff members.  Welcome to Ms. Majmudar (Gr. 6 a.m., 6/7 p.m.), Ms. Macdonald (Gr. 3/4), Ms. Saradin (Gr. 2/3), Ms. Stubbs (SNA), and Ms. Moses (LRS). Welcome back to Mr. Sawyers who will be teaching Grade 8 a.m. 7/8 p.m.  We are waiting for the final approval of our teacher for our Library/PREP and will update parents/guardians asap.

Over the summer, our Caretaking Team of Mr. Cobrana and Mr. Aleebux worked hard through the hot days to get our school looking great and ready to open.  Ms. Persaud has been putting in countless hours getting us all organized.  Educators have been in the school getting classrooms and programs ready for students. Students have been getting ready and parents and guardians have been working to re-establish routines and to get their children set to return. Thank you for a wonderful team effort to prepare for school!

I very much look forward to meeting and working closely with all of our educators, parents, and community members as we move forward together in continuing our school focus of promoting Literacy, Numeracy, the Arts, athletics and technology to best prepare learners for the evolving global society. Communication between home and school is integral to promoting student learning and ensuring safety and accountability. You will receive a school newsletter at the beginning of every month with all of the information and important dates. Our first School Council meeting of the year is on Wednesday, October 5th at 6:30.  We will hold our first meeting at school in the Staff Room. Please reach out to us if you have any questions. Together, we can make a significant difference and impact on each and every child’s school and learning experience!
