General Crerar is an Early Immersion school. Students who are in French Immersion begin French in Junior Kindergarten.
If you are interested in having your child in French Immersion, please visit the TDSB French Programs Webpage:
https://www.tdsb.on.ca/Elementary-School/School-Choices/French-Programs
All other students participate in Core French with 40 minutes of French daily. There are also options to enter French at other schools for Extended French beginning in Grade 4, where students will spend half of their day learning in French.
NOTE – General Crerar does not offer the Extended French Program, only Core French and Early French Immersion.
Our French teachers look forward to working with your child so that they can increase their fluency in both of Canada’s official languages.
The entry point to Early French Immersion for September is Junior Kindergarten. The application to the Early French Immersion program will remain an online process managed by the Central French Department and applications must be completed online. An offer of placement in the program (not a specific school) is guaranteed to all on-time applicants (usually between Oct-Nov the year before). Families with an older sibling currently in an Early French Immersion program are still required to complete an online application for the new student.
Visit the TDSB website for more information about Early French Immersion, Virtual & In-Person Information Sessions or the Application Process.
