Principal's Message

Dear Heather Heights Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Heather Heights!

I am extremely proud and excited to be working with such a dynamic school, staff, group of students and community. This is a very special community of learners where the children are encouraged to demonstrate respect for self, others and for their surrounding environment.

The staff and students are committed to focusing on the character attributes that will help our students to acquire the knowledge, skills and values that they need to become responsible, contributing and caring members and citizens of Canadian society.

Each day of the school year, you entrust your most valuable possession, your child, to our staff,  the responsibility of providing a safe, nurturing and welcoming learning environment for all of our students is paramount.   This year, our School Improvement Plan focuses on developing our math programs to include more guided math to improve students' conceptual understanding of numeracy concepts; promoting a positive school climate which does not tolerate bullying, sexism, homophobia, or racism; and ensuring that our pedagogy and resources support our community of learners effectively.

Please feel free to contact me at any time to talk about the school, your child, or our community.  I believe that communication between a school and the families it serves is critical in ensuring that our students become literate, numerate citizens.

I wish your child a very successful and exciting  year at Heather Heights!

Respectfully,

Lizz Landry
