French Class Rules, Routines and Expectations

Rules, Routines and Expectations

Here are a few of the rules, routines and expectations that we will be working on throughout the year…

1. Écoutez bien! – Listen Well! This includes: -actively listening during all phases of the lesson
-raising your hand if you wish to speak to the class
-maintaining eye contact and giving your full attention to those speaking

2. Participez toujours! – Always participate!
This includes: -completing homework and assignments
-bringing all necessary learning and support materials to class
-preparing and studying for all quizzes and tests (Use your planner or check AW!)
-contributing to classroom discussions/lessons

3. Faites attention! – Pay attention!
This includes: -being focussed and on-task 100% of the time
-following directions the first time and if you are unsure, ASK for clarification!

4. Montrez toujours du respect mutual! – Always display mutual respect!
This includes: -not disturbing or distracting others during class and working quietly
-showing respect for the property and space of others and for the classroom
-being kind with your words and actions

5. Ne faites pas de mal traitement des autres! – No put downs!
This includes: -allowing others to participate and safely contribute during class

Homework
You will have work to complete at home from time to time. It is expected that you study work learned in class on a regular basis. Assigned homework and due dates are recorded on the chalkboard in French class, in your own classroom or on AW.
It is your responsibility to complete any work that is given by me!

Class Materials
Please note that the following items are suggested:
- a binder or duotang to keep handouts
- a pencil, an eraser, pencil crayons and/or markers, a sharpener
- a French-English dictionary (although dictionaries are available at school, it is much better to have your own which you can keep at school but also take home when needed). If you already have a French-English dictionary, please make sure that your name is written clearly on or inside it.

I look forward to an exciting year with all of you!
Bienvenue à tous!
