Welcome to Henry Kelsey Senior Public School 2023-2024

Learning @ Kelsey

Our school wide focus will continue to be on addressing literacy and numeracy instruction. Our staff is engaged in professional development to focus on high yield strategies for improving vocabulary, reading fluency and comprehension, and numeracy. We have a comprehensive reading program for all students who may need support in any of these areas.

As well this year, students will be learning about global competencies - these are skills required to successfully participate in the global economy and include things like: teamwork, technological competence, problem solving, critical thinking.

Please remember that you can reach out to us anytime by email or phone.

On this website you can find a number of resources:

1. Our Friday File Tab: This has all Friday File newsletters that we send out every weekend.

2. Well-being Tab: This has a number of posts to link you to wellbeing resources

3. Our Grade 8 - 9 Transition Tab: This is a very important year for Grade 8 students heading to Grade 9. There are many activities and information nights available for families to attend to help make the best decision for their child. Please check out this tab if you are a grade 8 family member or student.

4. READING PROGRAM @Kelsey Tab: This tab explains a little bit about our guided reading program at Kelsey. We know and understand the importance student fluency in reading and future academic success. Please check out the tab for more information.

We look forward to a wonderful year at Henry Kelsey!

“I am a proud alumnus of Henry Kelsey SPS. I have very fond memories of friends, teachers, learning, becoming and growing. The richness of the curriculum fostered a journey of educational exploration and adventure that I did not foresee but took full advantage of. My experiences helped shape who I have become today and for this, I am incredibly grateful.”
