School Hours:
Regular school hours are from 9:00 a.m. - 3:10 p.m. A staff member will be on duty outside from 8:45 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. The outside bell rings at 8:58 a.m. in the morning. This is a signal for students to line up with their class. Lunch starts at 11:40 a.m. The bell ending lunch rings at 12:30 p.m. If you go home for lunch, you are expected to return on time. The school day ends at 3:10 p.m. A staff member will be on duty outside until 3:25 p.m. Students are reminded: If you are not staying after school to get help or participate in an activity, you should proceed directly home.
Attendance and Notes of Permission:
It is important to be on time for school. Regular attendance and punctuality are essential for student success. If your child is going to be absent or late, please contact the school 416-394-3070 before 8:40 a.m. and provide a reason. If students arrive late for school they will have missed important instructions and valuable information. They must report directly to the office to receive a " welcome to school "slip to be admitted to class.
Locked Doors:
All entrances to the school are locked. If students are late, they will come through the front doors. For the safety of all, the front doors are on a camera surveillance system. When buzzing, please buzz one time and pause. Office staff might be sometimes tied up elsewhere and unable to unlock the doors right away. Before school begins, students are expected to enter through the back doors along with everyone else. Kindergarten students will enter through the Kindergarten doors, always supervised by a staff member.
Permission Forms:
Permission forms must be signed by a parent/guardian in order for a student to participate in the unique opportunity. Verbal permission on the phone will not be acceptable.
Dress Code:
Please come appropriately dressed for school and the weather. You must wear shoes at school. Please leave a pair of indoor shoes at school and change into these after outdoor breaks. Shoelaces must be tied. Velcro is welcome!
Physical Education:
Students are encouraged to bring shorts and a t-shirt to participate in gym classes. Running shoes must be worn.
Lunch Routines:
A lunchroom supervisor will supervise the students over the lunch period. Students must ask for permission to leave the lunchroom. They are expected to keep their eating space tidy. When playing outside, students must ask the Lunchroom Supervisor or Teacher for permission to come inside for a break.
Lunchroom expectations:
- Students are encouraged to go home if a guardian is available to supervise them.
- All students who stay at school are to remain in their assigned rooms and seats and follow procedures as outlined by the teacher and lunchroom supervisors.
- Grade 7/8 students must receive written permission from their parents to leave school property over the lunch break. They must return on time. If they would like to purchase and bring lunch to be eaten at school, they must plan accordingly to allow for enough time to eat. The students head out for outdoor period by 12:10.
