What is CyberARTS?

CyberARTS at LCI is a specialized program focusing on visual arts and digital media. Each year students earn two credits - one in Visual Arts and one in Communications Technology - for a total of eight credits and a CyberARTS certification upon graduation.

The CyberARTS curriculum is built on experiential inquiry-based learning. Hands-on projects are geared towards developing a student who graduates from the program with excellent critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills - tools that are essential for today's fast paced and ever changing world, regardless of their chosen profession.

Post Secondary

CyberARTS graduates have gone on to post-secondary programs such as Creative Advertising, Engineering, Illustration, Industrial Design, 3D Animation, Drawing and Painting and more at institutions such as The University of Toronto, York University, Ryerson University, OCADU, Humber College, University of Waterloo and more.

Lakeshore CyberARTS students earned medals in:

Gold medalists Crawford and Kris compete in Kitchener at Ontario Skills Challenge.

The Facade Project

Panel portrait project with Lakeshore Arts and street artists Dan Bergeron and Paul Aloisi continues for a second year in a row.





The Bench

CyberARTS class partners with Eventscape and Lakeshore Arts in the design, fabrication and installation of modular bench on the Lakeshore Campus. Another great example of community partnerships with CyberARTS at LCI.

CNE Mural Project. $500 prize for mural production and a permanent display of work at the CNE

Shazaam! Collaborates with LCI CyberARTS and Eventscape

 

• Year 4 CyberARTS students are chosen to help design a sculptural work that will be fabricated and installed on the school grounds. (The Bench - installed 2013-14)
• Year 3 students worked with guest artists to create posters concerning propaganda that were published in the Lakeshore Villager newspaper
• Year 2 students created t-shirt designs based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
• Year 1 students worked with local artists to create decal signs as installation art work

ROM collaboration
Year 2 and 4 students collaborated with staff from the ROM and African artist El Anatsui to create mixed media works that were exhibited at the ROM and published in a collection sold in their bookstore.

Ontario arts council guest artist
Year 1 and 4 students worked with Susan Stoppes to create pewter amulets. Funding provided by the Ontario Arts Council.
