Families also have the option to use the School Messenger app for a faster and easier way to report absences and receive communication sent by the TDSB and your school.

Extended Absence

Extended absences are 5 or more consecutive absences which can include, but not limited to, personal family matters, medical concerns, and vacations.  Daily attendance is crucial to each student’s success.  Assessment is ongoing and therefore attendance is very important.  Extended absences may jeopardize a student’s credit earning opportunities. All students must complete culminating activities and/or write examinations at the end of each semester.

A. This form does NOT give permission to students to be absent but acknowledges that teachers and/or administration is informed that an extended absence will occur.

B. Students are responsible for all work missed during their absence.  If a student is absent for a class evaluation a mark of zero may be assigned.

C. Should a student be absent from an exam, a mark of zero may be assigned unless a medical certificate or another official document is submitted to the administration.  In such cases, the student’s final mark at the end of the semester will be evaluated entirely on term work.  All final exams may be taken at the scheduled time only.

D. This form must be completed in order of the steps below and submitted to the appropriate Vice Principal at least 10 school days before the first day of absence.

Extended absences forms can be found in the Main Office or Guidance Office.  It is strongly encourage to not take vacations during school time.
