Welcome to Norman Cook Junior Public school where staff, parents and students work together for students’ success. We are part of the Model Schools for Inner Cities (MSIC) and we believe in education for all. At Norman Cook, we value the diversity of our students and community members, and continue on a daily basis to provide a positive school climate.
Our mandate is to ensure that students have a caring and safe environment to learn. We believe that partnership between home, school and the community is the key to students’ achievements now and for the future. Research has shown that when we all work together in the best interests of the students they have a greater chance of succeeding. Your partnership is always encouraged and appreciated.
Norman Cook has a School Advisory Council (SAC) that meets regularly throughout the school year. We invite all parents to get involved in the School Advisory Council. We hope to grow this council to help support our students and offer engaging opportunities for all.
Character Education and Future Aces are integral parts of what we do. Every month one of the ten attributes and/or the Future Aces Creed are highlighted in each teacher's classroom and unit planning. Our students are recognized at Future Aces assemblies and throughout the school for displaying positive behaviours. As well, students are encouraged to solve problems using peaceful discussion.
Norman Cook organizes many activities throughout the year that keeps our school very active. We like to engage the whole student and foster opportunities for personal growth inside and outside the classroom.
