Footprint Garden Care FAQ


Answers to some questions you may have about caring for the Footprint Garden over the summer.
Q - What are my responsibilities?
A - To water the Footprint and butterfly garden when needed and to keep the weeds out of the garden. The pumpkins, corns and sunflowers are all part of the Footprint garden.

Q - What do I do with the fruits and vegetables that can be picked?
A - You may pick them and use them for your family meals or give them away to other community members.

Q - Where do I get the water to care for the garden?
A - There is a rain barrel located beside the garden with 3 watering cans beside it. Also there is a hose that is hooked up to the wall just outside of the Blue Wave door. The hose is located in the doorway of Blue Wave.

Q- What about tools?
A- All of our tools are kept in the shed in the Blue Wave playground area just inside the door or you are more than welcome to bring your own.

Q - How do I get access to the Blue Wave shed?
A - There are keys in the school for you take out from the hours of 8am-6pm Monday to Friday that are kept the boiler room. If you can't find them Mr. Porter can help you find them your first time. Linda in our community also has a set of keys if you see her working in the front garden.

Q - What about working on the weekend?
A - The school is closed on the weekend but the watering cans and rain barrel can be used to care for the garden.

Q - Where do I put the weeds and other leaves that we have pulled off?
A - In the compost bin labelled summer.

***Please note that we ask the volunteers to fill up the rain barrel if it is running low with the hose. Blue Wave will fill it every Tuesday as well.
