O’Connor is both a school and a vibrant community hub.
We welcome approximately 230 students, from JK to grade 5, from dozens of different language groups. Our students follow either a French immersion or an English program, and their days are full of active learning, STEM challenges, collaborative tasks, outdoor lessons, leadership opportunities, digital literacy, artistic activities, with a plethora of intramural sports included in the menu of their daily programming. We also provide ESL and resource support to those students in need. Our teachers focus on teaching from a lens of anti-oppression, ensuring that all children can see themselves in their learning, and that joy and engagement are the targets in our goals to close achievement and well-being gaps for our students.
Our school also houses an Early ON centre welcoming parents/caregivers with pre-schoolers for drop-in days, as well as a childcare centre, and an Extended Day Program (EDP) run by our TDSB ECEs. The City of Toronto’s Parks, Recreation, and Forestry department also uses our space after school for its ARC (afterschool recreation care) program. The O’Connor building certainly hums with all the daily activity! We look forward to welcoming you at the office some day soon.
