Volleyball

Congratulations to our CoEd volleyball team.  They had a great season, finishing second place in their conference, securing a banner for our gym to forever commemorate the hard work these athletes put in all season long.  Mr. Lazenkas, Ms. Greene and Mr. Falconer enjoyed working with this group of students who always remained positive and respectful to each other and their opponents.  We are all very proud of their success. Go Storm!

Community Visit

Earlier this week, the students in Mme Teixeira and Mme Newman’s class walked to the New Toronto Public Library. Gigi, the Librarian, presented a wonderful program including read-loud, songs and even a puppet show. Thank you to our parent volunteers for joining us on this special visit!

Big Box of Cards Fundraiser

We’re one week into our Big Box of Cards fundraiser! Thanks to all who have ordered so far!

Last week we sent home a sample card, but did you hear about the PRIZES?!

  • If we sell 75 boxes, the top-selling class will win a pizza party!
  •  If we sell 150 boxes, we qualify for the Grand Prize draw! For every 3 boxes of cards your family sells, your name will be placed in a draw to win 1 of 4 $25 gift cards for local retailers like Best Buy, Cineplex, Toys R Us and EB Games.
  •  If we sell 400 boxes, there will also be a draw for a Samsung 8-inch tablet!

There is no limit on the number of times you can enter - the more boxes you sell, the more times your name will go into the draw for the gift cards and the tablet if we reach these goals!

You can find more info on the 4 card options here: https://www.bigboxfundraising.com/collections/frontpage.

To order, go to your School Cash Online account and select which options you want to order. The deadline to order is Friday, May 3rd. Orders will be sent home with students mid-May.

All funds raised will go directly towards initiatives that benefit the students, such as funding field trips and purchasing new learning supplies & technology. Thank you so much for your support!

Earth Day display & Leafs Series Predictions

Earth Day

Throughout the week, we have been discussing ways to protect the Earth (e.g., conserving water; planting trees; conserving energy; walking; taking a bicycle; taking care of animals; cleaning up our garbage; etc.).

Here is our display showcasing our learning 😊

Bringing Current Events into our classroom 🏒

Today, we documented our predictions for who will win the upcoming Leafs vs. Bruins series. Many children demonstrate an interest in hockey as many students in our class play or have siblings who play hockey, watch hockey on television and/or follow the Leafs (or other teams). We will continue to document the series in age appropriate ways. We will share more on this next week.

Reminders

Excursion Management Application Support For Families

The following are tips and supports for families to use EMA(online trip and sports permission system)

ISSUE: PARENT WHO “DIDN’T RECEIVE A LINK/EMAIL”

Parent link, will work whether or not they received an email, https://parent.ema.tdsb.on.ca/#/

ISSUE: NEW EMA ACCOUNT

For registering their account they can use these instructions.

Parent link, will work whether or not an email is received, https://parent.ema.tdsb.on.ca/#/

If you are having account setup challenges it is likely for one of the following reasons:

  1. Wrong parent email (must be what the office has, was on Data Verification)
  2. Wrong postal code, they have to use a space for example M8X2R1 will not work but M8X 2R1 will.
  3. Inputting the child’s OEN in place of a student number (speak to the teacher to receive this if needed).

ISSUE: SPORTS TEAMS

There is an extra step involved to access these permission forms, please follow these instructions.

Note: once parents have completed the Tryout & Participation Form there are no subsequent forms for TDESSA tournament dates. Parents/Guardians will receive an email when a tournament date is submitted but they do not have to provide additional permission.
