Dear Parents / Guardians,
In lieu of what was supposed to be March Break this week, we took it upon ourselves to have a MINI March Break at the school for all of our students.
Flower Pot or Character Creations
On Monday, we had the choice of making a Flower Pot Monster or Character Creations of our choice. This activity was fun and simple for all the students to enjoy. This was created out of clay and sealed with a glue and water mixture. We were able to use our imagination. To be even more creative, there was soil and a seed planted in the creation making it more of an artistic fun activity that included nature. By: Rukaiya R. 7A
Friendship Bracelets
Friendship bracelets, Who doesn't love them? I mean everyone's heard of them. They are a great way to express kindness to our peers. Making a bracelet for one another is really fun and provides an experience for sharing. It is very fascinating because all our friends and classmates came together to help each ot
her make something beautiful, which is also a very bonding experience.
On Tuesday, we were asked to create a bracelet for either ourself or a friend! It was pretty complicated to do some basic steps. The knot tying and the pattern weaving proved a challenge. However, it also provided more chances for us to socialize with our classmates. There were many types of bracelets you could make, and once you got the hang of it, you would be making bracelets left and right! Overall, this experience allowed us to bond and create classroom spirit. It was an awesome day and we will always remember it. By: Adrian and Ali (7B)
Kahoot
On Wednesday, we had a school-wide Kahoot with spring time as the theme. Each teacher from each class was in a Google Meet and each class was a player in the game. Our class was very competitive and determined to win, although sadly that didn’t happen (this time). Congratulations to 7A who came in first place, 8B in second and 8C in third place. You could hear the cheering from the classes around the school. It was noisy with laughter and a competitive spirit was in the air. It was very fun! We appreciate all of the efforts of the staff who created and helped with this fun activity. By: Nephtali N. 8F

Talli Osborne - Inspirational Speaker
On Wednesday, MacMillan had our very first virtual assembly. We welcomed the phenomenal Talli Osborne - Inspirational Speaker. Talli Osborne is a woman that was born without arms above her elbows, knees and femurs, and throughout her whole life, a lot of people have tried to make her feel like she was less because her differences were clear to other people. She wanted to fit in, but many people didn't treat her well and even mocked her, but this did not stop Talli from proving to everyone how she was just as capable as any other person, beautiful from the inside and the outside and that she’s unique in her own way. Talli’s story has helped many people around the world express themselves and feel confident, even with all their differences. She is truly an inspiration. We hope that you can pass on Talli’s message and never forget it because we’re all different, and it’s all our differences that make us beautiful. By: Sara B. (8B) & Arjun J. (8C)
Movie Day
To end the week, each class watched a movie of their choice in their homerooms. It was nice to wind down and relax on a Friday for a few periods.
It was a really nice week at MacMillan. Enjoyment during a pandemic is far stretched but we came together and made this week enjoyable by all.
Have a fantastic weekend as the weather warms up! Stay Safe!
