Homework Tips and Resources

Homework Policy - TDSB

Parents/Guardians are a key part of finding homework success.

Some tips on what you can do to support your child include:

  • Set a time for homework and provide a quiet space away from distractions;
  • Practice math, reading, and writing daily and encourage your child to help you read and write everyday items such as recipes, newspapers, or shopping lists;
  • Show interest and talk about what happened at school;
  • Praise and encourage your child to ask for help when needed, and
  • Keep in touch with teachers and ask about completed work.

Online Go-Guardian Parent App Now Available

Families of students enrolled in the Student (1:1) Device Program from Grades 6-12 can now access the Go Guardian Parent App, allowing parents, guardians and caregivers to manage their children’s internet use outside of school hours including blocking specific websites and restricting internet access completely.

Information about the app and a support guide have been made available to families through the December edition of the TDSB Connects communication for families.

What you should know:

  • Go Guardian Parent works only outside of school hours. Parents/guardians can make changes between 4:01 PM and 7:59 AM. During school hours, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Go Guardian can only be managed by the teacher.
  • The application is available for iOS devices (iPhone/iPad) and Android devices (phone/tablet) only.
  • The TDSB School Community IT Support service is available to assist families with questions they may have about Go Guardian Parent.
  • Each student can have a maximum of two parents or guardians connected to the application.
