About Us

Mission Statement

Tecumseh's Mission Statement is to strive towards one's personal best through high expectations and students' successes and to foster social responsibility in a sharing, caring environment.

The Tecumseh community is a socially and culturally diverse one.  Students come here from Cornell, Willow Park and Golf Road public schools to transition successfully from a K - 6 to a senior school environment.

History

Tecumseh, the first senior public school in Scarborough, is located near the intersection of Lawrence Avenue and Scarborough Golf Club Road.  Opening in 1968, it was named after the Shawnee warrior who supported the British and died during the War of 1812. Tecumseh means "Shooting Star" which is the name adopted by our sports teams.

What We Value in our Environment

At Tecumseh, we are proud of the many academic, athletic and social accomplishments of our students.  A student council, selected by  fellow students, is an integral part of the organization. Character development is promoted by means of a school spirit and academic  system called "Shooting Stars".   Honour students are recognized at assemblies called "Academic All-Stars" and are presented with certificates.  Parents are invited to share in their accomplishments.

Our School Focus for This School Year
