Dear Parents/Guardians,
One way we can keep students safe is by ensuring students have arrived safely at school and that we can account for all absences and late arrivals. It is important that if your child is going to be absent/late for any reason that you contact the office at the earliest possible opportunity.
If there is no recorded reason for the absence/lateness you will be contacted to establish the reason for the absence/lateness as part of our Safe Arrival Program.
The parent/guardian contact system has moved to an automated call out system which will mean parents/guardians will be able to be contacted faster than ever before. The new automated system has a multi-step process, as outlined below:
Parents/guardians listed in the school boards student information system who is listed as a priority 1 or 2 contact will receive an automated call.
If you receive a call you need to listen to the entire message and follow any prompts.
You will be asked if you are aware or unaware of your child's absence.
If you are unaware of the absence you will be asked to call the school immediately.
If you are aware of the absence you will be asked to confirm the reason for the absence, a menu is available as follows:
- Illness
- Doctor's Appointment
- Dentist's Appointment
- Family Matter
- Weather
- Other
At the end of the message you will have to press
2 to confirm you have received the message, if you do not confirm receipt you will receive a call on your cell phone.
If we fail to get a response from the priority 1 contact, the system will try to reach the priority 2 contact on the list, three further attempts will be made to make contact in ten minute intervals.
The process listed above will also be used for the afternoon attendance.
In the evening all parents/guardians will be contacted if their child was late on that day, informing them that their child(ren) were late or absent from school that day.
With this in mind it is important that your contact information on file at the office is kept up to date. Please let the office know if any of your contact details change throughout the school year.
We recognize that regular attendance checks are essential to the safety, academic success and well being of all students. Thank you for your continuing to work with us to keep your children safe and accounted for.
Sincerely,
Liga Miklasevics
