Students are given instruction on how to use a compass and then will have an opportunity to take compass bearings at specific areas within the park. Students will practice their observation skills using photos of the designated areas as well as learn about perspective.
They will also use map reading skills to learn how to orient themselves. Practice will occur within the classroom searching for mapped blazes then the students will be challenged on an outdoor course within our schoolyard.
