Homework Tips and Resources

Parents/Guardians are a key part of finding homework success. Some tips on what you can do to support your child include:

  • Set a time for homework and provide a quiet space away from distractions
  • Practice math, reading and writing daily and encourage your child to help you read and write everyday items such as recipes, newspapers or shopping lists
  • Show interest and talk about what happened at school
  • Praise and encourage your child to ask for help when needed
  • Keep in touch with teachers and ask about completed homework

Parents

Welcome to Winona!

Winona strives to provided excellence in education for the young adolescent.  Through partnerships with the home, our staff provide opportunities for our student to learn and grow intellectually, socially and emotionally.  Students have clearly outlined responsibilities which helps provide a clear and consistent understanding, but which also supports their rights as young adolescence.

Students will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of experiences, which include, a pool, a library resource centre, two specialized music rooms, a Family Studies program and Design and Technology program. We have teachers who specialize in Math, Science, Literacy and Physical Education.  Our Guidance Councillor helps facilitate leadership and social and emotional development through assemblies, workshops, guest speakers and initiatives based on student interests.

We believe that education is a partnership, and parents participation is an essential part of a child's success.  Any questions and concerns can be brought to the office, our doors are always open. We can be reached at 416-393-1680.

We look forward to work with parents and our community to ensure an enriching experience for all Winona students.
