Outdoor Learning and Play (OPAL)

WH Students and Staff support and encourage all-weather Outdoor Learning and Play (OPAL)! Play is self-directed, intrinsically motivated, and freely chosen. The three rules of OPAL are as follows: “Is it safe?”, “Is it fun?” and “Is it inclusive?”. Fighting or rough play will not be tolerated.

In order for your child to have an enjoyable day, please do the following:

  • Your child must be dressed appropriately to be outside during all kinds of weather - rain or shine! Even in the winter, appropriate clothing choices will support outdoor play. (e.g., layers of clothing, winter boots, winter jacket, hat, waterproof gloves, snow pants, etc.)
  • Bring a change of socks, pants and gloves just in case they get wet or dirty

Thank you for your support and let's get outside and play!!
