Food for Kids Program

We know that the closure of schools has been difficult for many families, especially those who rely on school-based Student Nutrition Programs. The TDSB and the Toronto Foundation for Student Success have teamed up to provide families at your school with $50 grocery store food cards (one per TDSB student). If your family would benefit from this card, please complete the registration form online.

Africentric Alternative School

Welcome to our school web site. The Africentric Alternative School accepts students from JK to Grade 8 and is located within the Sheppard Public School at 1430 Sheppard Avenue West (near Keele Street).  Although the Africentric Alternative School is in Toronto’s west end, any student living in Toronto can attend the school.

The Africentric Alternative School has three key outcomes for its students:

  • High academic achievement
  • High self-pride
  • A high motivation to succeed

A unique feature of the Africentric Alternative School will be the integration of the diverse perspectives, experiences and histories of people of African descent into the provincial mandated curriculum. The program will also feature a Parenting and Family Literacy Centre for pre-school children.
