Brookmill Blvd. School Advisory Council

The voice of every parent, guardian and student is valued. One way to share your ideas to make our school great is through our School Advisory Council. The Brookmill Boulevard School Advisory Council meets several times a year.

Elections for voting positions will be held within the first 30 days of the year, and the council meeting dates for the year will be posted here. All families are welcome to attend!

School Councils provide a forum through which parents, school staff, students, and other members of school communities can contribute to improving student achievement and well-being and enhance the accountability of the education system. Ontario Reg. 612

If you are interested in joining the Election Planning Committee, please email [email protected] to let us know.

Involvement Beyond Brookmill

Did you know that the TDSB has a number of advisory councils that invite parent input? Let us know if you're interested in getting involved and we'll do our best to help put you in touch with the right people. Here are two key committees that we're excited to highlight:

Logo for the Parent Involvement Advisory Committee (PIAC)

The Parent Involvement Advisory Committee is a statutory committee that provides advice to the TDSB. They host an annual conference, establish working groups on a wide variety of topics relating to education, and offer a wealth of information for School Councils. Each Ward elects 1-2 parent representatives. The representative for Ward 20 is currently Rezaul Karim who can be reached at [email protected].

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)

The Special Education Advisory Committee is also set out in law as a requirement for all school boards in Ontario. This committee includes both parents and representatives from local associations like the Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario and the Autism Society of Ontario.

They make recommendations to the board regarding issues affecting students with special education needs. All parents and guardians are invited to observe their monthly hybrid meetings. Their four-year membership term is up in 2027 so if you are interested in getting involved, attend a meeting, reach out to one of the community representatives for Learning Centre 2 and learn more!
