The school year at CALC EdVance is divided into 4 quads (Quadmesters). A quad is like a semester in a regular high school, only it is approximately 9 weeks long. Students are required to take a minimum of two (2) courses each quad. Each course is two hours every day. At the end of the term you will earn a credit for each course that you complete and pass.

Age Qualification:

The EdVance program is for students 18-20 years of age. If you are turning 21 before January 1, 2021, you will be directed to CALC’s Adult program. If you do not qualify under this definition then your "home" school or an optional attendance school or a Continuing Education program should accept you. If you do not meet the age criteria and cannot find a suitable alternative, contact the TDSB Placement Centre at 416.393.9300.

Required Documentation:

When you receive your appointment date, there will be a list of item to bring. We will need to see the original documents plus a photocopy of each that will be retained in your school file. There are no photocopiers available at registration; therefore, make sure you bring the photocopies. We will be looking for proof of citizenship, or residence status in Canada, your Ontario Health Card, valid picture ID, and a transcript or credit counseling summary. The appointment sheet will provide more specific information.

Students are required to have a minimum of 5 credits and must have ENG1P1, ENG1D1, or ESLBO8. The EdVance program is oriented towards students who have fallen behind completing their OSSD.

For the registration appointment, you will need to bring:

1. credit counselling summary 
2. photo identification
3. proof of address
4. $30 activity fee (credit or debit only: No cash) WAIVED FOR THE 2020/2021 SCHOOL YEAR
5. Referral Form if you are coming from another School Board: Referral Form


As a new student you will be asked to pay $30.00 Student Activity Fee for the school year. Payment must be made by credit card or debit. Students pay a $30 activity fee which covers the student agenda, celebrations, guest speakers and theme days.
