Welcome to Churchill Public School — a vibrant Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5 school community in the north end of Toronto.
At Churchill, relationships are at the heart of the work we do. We believe that students learn best when they feel known, valued, safe, and supported. We work together with students and families to create a welcoming school where every child is encouraged to belong, thrive, achieve, and build the skills, knowledge, character, and relationships they need to grow.
Learning and Achievement
We have high expectations for every student — both academically and in the way we treat one another. Our students are encouraged to work hard, think critically, ask questions, persevere through challenges, and take pride in their learning.
Our academic program provides rich learning experiences in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts, physical education, technology, and more. Students demonstrate their learning through daily classroom experiences, ongoing assessment, TDSB assessment practices, and provincial assessments administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO).
While achievement matters, we believe success is about more than a mark or a test result. We celebrate students who take risks in their learning, learn from mistakes, show perseverance, support one another, and take pride in a job well done.
A School Full of Opportunities
Learning at Churchill extends beyond the classroom. We encourage students to discover their interests, develop their talents, try something new, and become active members of our school community.
Throughout the year, students have opportunities to participate in clubs, teams, activities, performances, and special programs. These have included Silver Birch, Glee Club, Cross Country, Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Field, the ECO Team, and many other opportunities. School assemblies and special events give us opportunities to celebrate student achievement, recognize positive character traits, and come together as a school community.
We also welcome artists, performers, and community partners into our school throughout the year, providing students with experiences that broaden their learning and inspire their creativity.
Our Churchill Community
Our families are an essential part of what makes Churchill special. We believe that strong partnerships between home and school make a meaningful difference in children's success.
Our School Council and parent volunteers contribute their time, energy, ideas, and talents throughout the year. From pizza lunches and movie nights to our much-loved annual Fun Fair, our families help create opportunities for students and bring our community together.
Parent fundraising and volunteer support also help enrich classroom programs and provide students with experiences beyond the regular curriculum, including field trips, special activities, and additional learning opportunities.
