Education plays a crucial role in raising awareness of environmental challenges and in shaping the attitudes and behaviours that can make a difference in changing the planet.
By teaching our friends and family that the physical environment is fragile and indispensable we can begin to fix the problems that are threatening it.
One of the first steps in addressing the issue is raising awareness. Many classrooms already discuss important issues like recycling or sustainable consumption.
At Elkhorn the Eco-team encourages staff and students to walk/bike to school each Wednesday. Each class keeps track of who walks or bikes to school and at the end of the month after collecting all submissions the coveted Golden Shoe award is presented to the class with the most submissions.
