A new and exciting program at Emery for the second year is the Advanced Credit Experience (ACE). We at Emery C.I. are very proud to be in partnership with York University as we are one of only two schools in the Toronto District School Board that offers the ACE program.
During Semester 1, students are at Emery taking 4 courses. One of these courses is HSP3M-Introduction to Anthropology, Psychology and Sociology. In this course, students learn about the three social sciences as well as valuable skills, which will help ease their transition from high school to university.
Throughout the semester, students travel to York for further information about the ACE program as well as a tour of campus and orientation.
During semester 2, students are at York full time. Here they take a 1st year Political Science course with first year university students. This course as well as all the reading material is offered at no cost to Emery students. During their semester at York, students also complete a co-op experience within the university.
At the end of the school year, students enrolled in the ACE program will receive four high school credits during the first semester, four co-op credits while completing their co-op at the university during second semester, and finally one university credit completed at York.
Both the steps and ACE programs at Emery C.I. are amazing programs that open doors for success.
