To ensure the safety of all students, all volunteers must complete a Police Reference Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening, before participating in any activities involving students. This process is required for all volunteers across the TDSB, just as it is for staff.
Here’s how to apply for a Police Reference Check through Toronto Police Services:
Please follow the steps below to complete your VSC online.
- Click on the https://www.tps.ca/services/police-record-checks/
- Next click on "APPLY HERE"
- Applicants are required to register for a Police Record Check (PRC) Account.
- When asked, use the TDSB Code: 202309TPSOND7EFC
It may take several weeks for your Vulnerable Sector Screening check to come back (over email). Once you receive it, please provide the school office with a copy so you can be cleared to be a regular volunteer at our school. *** You only need to do this once, and once listed as a volunteer at our school, you just need to come to the office once per year to do a verbal declaration to renew for the new school year.
Once you receive your completed check back, please bring it to the school so we can submit it to the police record check office.
