Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year!
We hope your summer was filled with opportunities to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful time with family and friends. As we prepare to open our doors for another exciting year of learning, growth, and connection, I am delighted to welcome back our returning families and extend a special welcome to those who are joining the General Brock community for the first time.
The beginning of a new school year is always filled with possibility. It is a time to build new relationships, establish routines, set goals, and create the conditions for every child to thrive. As we enter our third year together as a school community, we are filled with gratitude for the partnership, trust, and support that families continue to show our school. There is something special about the number three, and we are excited to continue building on the strong foundation we have created together.
At General Brock, we believe that students learn best when they feel safe, valued, included, and connected. Our commitment remains focused on fostering a caring, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment where every student experiences a strong sense of belonging and has opportunities to see their identity, strengths, and lived experiences reflected in their learning. We know that meaningful relationships are at the heart of student success, and we are committed to creating spaces where every child feels seen, heard, and supported.
Mr. Houston and Mr. Cassells have dedicated countless hours throughout the summer in preparing our school for the year ahead. From cleaning and organizing learning spaces to completing repairs and ensuring our building is safe, welcoming, and ready for students and staff, their hard work often happens behind the scenes but has a tremendous impact on our school community. Thank you Mr. Houston and Mr. Cassells!
We would also like to recognize our incredible office team, Ms. V and Ms. Mate, who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a smooth start to the school year. From organizing class placements and transportation information to preparing student records, schedules, and forms, their work is essential to a successful opening.
On Friday, September 4th, 2026, families will receive an email indicating their child's classroom placement and teacher for the upcoming school year.
All students were carefully placed by staff. Changes will not be made to placements, other than those required as part of the Board’s usual September reorganization process. On the first day of school, staff members will be available throughout the school grounds to welcome students and assist them in finding their classrooms.
In preparation for the beginning of the 2026-27 school year, the Toronto District School Board will soon email all families directly with a link to Start of Year forms for your student(s)
. Please watch for a message from
noreplyregistration@powerschool.com
on September 1 and complete the online forms for your student as soon as possible prior to the first day of school on September 8, 2026. Start of Year Forms ensure that the school has up-to-date and accurate student information on file, as well as consent for school activities. It is very important that these forms are completed in a timely manner and will help ensure a smooth start to the school year. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Should you have any questions about the forms, please contact our school office.
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust
. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday, September 8, 2026,
and to another wonderful year of learning, growth, and connection.
Warm regards,
Ms. Statton and Ms. Bossert
Principal and Vice-Principal
