Welcome to Glen Ravine Jr. P. S.'s website. Our website is a "work in progress", and we will try hard to make it a useful communication tool for our school community.
Glen Ravine Jr. P. S. is a Kindergarten to Grade 6 school of 300 students and a staff of 30. Each and every day our staff and students work collaboratively to ensure that we are all meeting the expectations of our school motto; "Pride, Respect and Responsibility", as well as our Code of Responsibility. We take great pride in the positive and productive atmosphere that prevails throughout the school.
The staff of Glen Ravine Jr. P. S. take their role of nurturing our students to become successful, responsible and respectful citizens very seriously.
To achieve this goal we place a strong emphasis on literacy and numeracy, balanced by the arts, physical education and character development. Our students are given numerous opportunities to engage in a variety of clubs, teams and extracurricular activities, as well as being responsible for a number of key jobs around the school; e.g., Office Club, Recycling Club, Peer Assistants, Student Council. These opportunities ensure that our students are able to develop their leadership skills and volunteerism at a young age.
Glen Ravine Jr. P. S. is very proud of our gold status as a Toronto District School Board Eco School. Everyone at Glen Ravine Jr. P. S. strives to make responsible choices that will help the environment. Students who stay for lunch bring a litter less lunch, classrooms use the classroom lights only when necessary, and everyone makes excellent use of the blue bin program.
The staff of Glen Ravine Jr. P. S. value the partnership between the school and the home. It is the only way we can work together to provide the very best educational opportunity for our students.
As always, we maintain an open door policy. Please do not hesitate to contact me, or your child's teacher, whenever you have questions or concerns regarding your child's academic performance, or any school related activities or initiatives.
Sincerely
Ms. J. Lewis
