Good morning HCI,
"Senioritis" - A term often used to describe a drop in motivation and performance in students during their final year of high school or post secondary. Please be on the 'look-out' for the signs and symptoms of this if you have a senior student in your home. We are in the final stretch, but this is an important time to re-double efforts rather than put the brakes on in terms of motivation, procrastination, feeling mentally checked out and attendance.
There are many fun events and celebrations that are forthcoming, we want all our grads to be able to take part in these, so please ensure they are continuing to follow the school code of conduct. For several years now a game has been played by many students across North America called “Senior Assassin”. A quick google search will unearth articles outlining what the game is and the reasons why this game causes schools and authorities concern. This is NOT a school sanctioned activity; however, schools are often put in the position of needing to send messaging.
Here is my local perspective: We do not allow toy guns of ANY kind on property. In a school the word gun = lockdown. DO NOT bring water guns to school. If students are found with them they will be confiscated. If they are being used on school property, we will take appropriate disciplinary action. We will not be returning water guns to students. Off school property I understand this is a fun game….I am not saying don’t have fun….but please be smart about it and avoid putting yourself in a situation where your actions/ intentions are misinterpreted by the public. Public transit is not an appropriate space for these sorts of things either!
Please see below for important updates for the upcoming week.

Worth Repeating
Missed Evaluations --> Please note that family vacations are not considered a legitimate absence. Every effort should be made to avoid scheduling family vacations during school time. Holiday dates are published in the school calendar and on the TDSB website, http://www.tdsb.on.ca. In the event of a missed evaluation due to a family vacation, teachers are not required to provide an alternative form of evaluation. In the case of examinations, no make-up exam or alternative arrangements will be made. In person students will not be made Virtual Learners in order to accommodate.
*Please note that this Evaluation Reminder also applies to summer plans that may begin before the academic year comes to an end. Please do not book summer plans to begin during the examination or culminating period.
