HCI Weekly Bulletin

Weekly Bulletin - November 9 - 13, 2026

Friday, November 06, 2026 11:38 AM

Good morning HCI,

November is now upon us, which has brought the time change. While the morning light is appreciated, it does mean it is getting darker much earlier; please remind our HCI students about being extra careful to be seen by cars and the TTC! We have now crossed over the halfway mark of semester one, with mid-term report cards being sent out electronically by the end of next week. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher and care team here at HCI, should they need more support academically or social-emotionally. We have a variety of supports that can be put in place; every student should feel that they have a 'team' here at HCI that is in their corner!

FINAL CALL! Humberside Spirit Wear --> Today is the last day to purchase SPIRIT WEAR! From classic crewnecks and hoodies to t-shirts and more! All items are sold separately and are available to purchase through School Cash Online until tonight. Check out the full collection and access the purchase links on the Huskies Sports Centre website. Don't miss out on your chance to rep Humberside!

Humberside Celebrates

HCI Breakfast Program → Our breakfast program is fortunate to have students who are willing to come in early each morning to support in making sure that Humberside students get a nutritious and delicious breakfast every day! Twelve student volunteers also took part in the Safe Food Handling Training Course that has been developed for volunteers who support with breakfast programs. This course is accepted by all TDSB schools who offer nutrition programs and is approved by the Ministry of Health. This accreditation is an asset that can be added to a resume as well! The students learned about safe food handling, hygiene and safe operating practices and how to safely prepare food. Students are able to earn volunteer hours that count towards their 40 hours of required community service hours and this is a great opportunity to be involved in school community. Way to go Breakfast Program Team!

A Window into the Classroom

Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) --> On Friday, 30 October, some of our Health & Wellness SHSM and other senior students explored Seneca Polytechnic. They were given the opportunity to tour the Newnham Campus as well as see what it might be like to be in programs such as Environmental Technician, Fashion Arts, Building Systems Engineer, and Business Studies. Seeing the possibility of hands-on learning at a post-secondary institution was quite educational and exciting!

Academic Information

NEW! Experiential Learning → A website for HCI's Experiential Learning Department has been launched! If your student is interested in taking their learning into the community, there are many rich and vibrant opportunities. Please explore the new website for information on Co-operative Education, OYAP, Dual Credits, and Health & Wellness SHSM.
