Safe Arrival Program

Each school in the TDSB has a Safe Arrival Program. If your child is absent, the school will contact you to determine the reason for absence to ensure that all students are safe and accounted for. Recently, the Board has implemented an automated call out system, SchoolConnects. If your child is absent and you have not informed the school with a reason, then the SchoolConnects system will call you.

You can help the school to ensure the safety of your child in the following ways:

1. If your child will be absent FOR ANY REASON, call the school at 416-396-6365 before 9:00 am and leave a message.

2. Let the school know if the absence is a FULL day or HALF day absence. We will input the absence into the system and the call out will be avoided.

3. If you do receive an automated call, listen to the entire message and press 2 to CONFIRM receipt at the end of the message. If you hang up or do not confirm, the system will continue to call.

4. There is no option to say if the absence is full or half day. You will receive BOTH a morning AND an afternoon call.

5. To avoid multiple calls, contact the school and let us know if your child will be absent FULL or HALF day. We can input directly into the system to stop the afternoon call out if we know the REASON for your child’s absence.

6. The only way to stop the LATE call out in the evening is to get your child to school on time. If your child is LATE for school either morning or afternoon, you will receive an automated message. There is no other option to stop LATE calls.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
