In the Toronto District School Board, the entry point to Early French Immersion is at the beginning of Junior Kindergarten. The next cohort of Early French Immersion starts in September 2026.  

If your child was born in 2022 and if they are starting Junior Kindergarten in September 2026, you can apply for them to join an Early French Immersion program. It is an entirely online process and you will have to apply this year. For the most up-to-date information and details, please visit the TDSB’s French Programs website.

The online application process opened on November 3, 2025 and the deadline for applications is November 28, 2025.  An offer of placement in the program (not a specific school) is guaranteed to all on-time applicants. Families with an older sibling currently in an Early French Immersion program are still required to complete an online application for the new student.

The Application Process

Families interested in the Toronto District School Board's system-wide French Immersion Program must apply online for Middle French Immersion (begins in Grade 4).  To apply to the Middle French Immersion Program for September 2026, applications must be completed online between January 5, 2026 and January 30, 2026. Families with an older sibling currently in a Middle French Immersion program are still required to complete an online application for the new student.
