Parents are children's first and life-long teachers. We value the partnership between home and school and know that parental involvement is the key to success in school. You can be involved by helping your child with homework, volunteering in our school, or joining our school council. By welcoming you and providing opportunities for you to be involved, we can work together to ensure that our students receive the very best education.
At Sunnylea Junior School, there is a strong and vital parent volunteer program. There are many objectives and beneifts of this program including:
- Parents become more meaningfully involved in their child's educational environment and enhance their understanding of their child's education.
- Parents provide practical assistance under a teacher's direction to individual students or groups of students.
Parents may volunteer their time in a variety of ways. They can help the teacher by:
- Providing additional supervision on a field trip
- Being a grade parent
- Preparing teaching materials (photocopying, typing stories, mounting work)
- Assisting in the library
- Assisting with extracurricular clubs and activities
As we adjust to the new Covid world, we'll continue to find ways to involve our community in the school. It will look different, but we do not want to lose our close connection.
