Meet the ‘23/24 SAC!

Position Name Biography
President

Saniyah Farzeen

In her role as this year's SAC President, Saniyah is enthusiastic about taking the lead in overseeing all SAC-related activities, from meetings to engaging events. With a deep-rooted history in SAC spanning her high school journey, Saniyah is excited to learn, grow, and collaborate with her incredible team to amplify SAC's role within the school community. Beyond SAC, her active participation in various student groups, including co-running Best Buddies and Cam's Kids, as well as her passion for musical theatre, showcases her dedication to creating a vibrant school experience for all.

Vice-President

Zoshua Israni

As the Vice President for this year, Zoshua is passionate about organizing SAC meetings, planning events, and maintaining a positive school environment. He considers the various factors and makes his administrative decisions to ensure the success of all initiatives to create the best possible experience for the student body and SAC, while also presiding over SAC meetings when the president is absent. However, in addition to SAC, Zoshua has been involved in the school community by tutoring fellow students, contributing art to various fares, and partaking in the musical theatre course. He looks forward to making this year wonderful for everyone!

Secretary

Noa Shiohara

As a member of SAC for the past two years, Noa Shiohara is thrilled to be taking on the role of secretary for her last. She believes that a strong and collective effort from the student council is essential in creating a positive space for all students, and will be putting in her best effort alongside her peers in doing so. Alongside SAC, Noa is a CyberArts student who extends her interest in the arts by working on stage lighting for multiple school productions including IGNITE and Almost, Maine.

Clubs Convenor

Sammy Tripathi

Undertaking on the mantle of this year's Club Convenor, Sammy Tripathi assumes the responsibility of orchestrating and supervising a diverse array of club-related endeavors. In addition to her involvement with the SAC, Sammy plays an active part in multiple clubs, including the Programming Club, Ambassadors, the Cyber Security Club, and Peer Tutoring. Drawing from her multifaceted engagement in various DMCI clubs, she aspires to encourage her peers to explore new passions and pursuits. Sammy's enthusiasm lies in collaborating with her fellow students and club leaders throughout the forthcoming year, capitalizing on the opportunities that arise this year.

Treasurer

Cynthia Lin

As this year’s treasurer, Cynthia is inspired to do her utmost to make this 2023/2024 school year memorable for all the students and participants at DMCI. Her primary role within SAC includes overseeing the financial responsibilities that align with SAC projects. She is thrilled to be able to collaborate with a reliable team that is equally as passionate about bringing spirit to Don Mills. Beyond SAC, Cynthia is a grade 12 CyberArts student who tries to stay active through her commitment to clubs, such as Volleyball, Track and Field, and Ambassadors.

Fundraising Rep

Maran Muruganantha

For his role as the fundraising representative in SAC this year, Maran will ensure that adequate funding is raised from sales not limited to hoodies, bake sales, and all things DMCI that go towards prom, barbeques, and other exciting events at school. In his three years here, Maran has been a part of many sports teams, from basketball and cricket, and has co-founded Computer Club and Chess Training. Overall, Maran aspires to participate in school extra-curriculars and his position as Fundraising rep to the fullest.

Arts Convenor

Svetlana Gorgievski

With a passion for art stemming from childhood, Svetlana is thrilled and honoured to be this year’s Arts Convenor! Alongside her phenomenal team, she hopes to cultivate an environment where all forms of art– both visual and performance– will have the opportunity to thrive and aspiring creatives of all calibers will have the opportunity to grow. Outside of SAC, Svetlana is a CyberArts student who is actively involved in the DMCI community as the executive and founder of Debate Club, executive of Model UN, IGNITE design executive, co-executive of the Announcements Team, and co-executive of Peer Tutoring. At the end of the day, her utmost priority is using the arts to make sure each and every student can end the year knowing they contributed to something memorable.

Mahsa

Despite this being Mahsa’s first time on SAC, she is ready to make up for what she lacks in experience with enthusiasm! She is so excited to join SAC in her final year at DMCI, and is ready to raise spirits with the help of her dear friend Oviya — her co-social spirit convenor. Mahsa is a part of several clubs and school productions: A president of the book club, member of Cam’s Kids, Best Buddies, musical theater and an IGNITE executive. Wave a hello if you see her, because she’s ready to take on this school year!

Oviya Muruganantha

After the experience of being on SAC the past year, Oviya knew she had to be a part of it again in her final year of highschool. She was sure there was a place meant for her in SAC and was lucky enough to find herself in the same role she had the past year! There is truly no role more fitting for her she realises, as she is someone who almost always is in positive spirit. Oviya is a part of numerous clubs such as EcoTeam, Book club, Cam’s Kids, Best Buddies, and TRC and loves to get involved with what goes on in DMCI! She hopes with the help of one of her best friends Mahsa to make this year year unforgettable and filled with school spirit!

Ismahan Mohamud

Ismahan hopes to spread school spirit, make the school year more fun, and positive during her last year. She has been excited to be a part of SAC again for her final year at DMCI. She is also easy to talk to, friendly, kind, and very outgoing. Outside of SAC Ismahan is a part of Stage crew, Mainstage and many more clubs. She hopes to make it an incredible school year.

Social Media Convenor

Zayeema Hussain

With the role of social media convenor, Zayeema is in charge of administrating student communications and managing DMCI SAC social media platforms. Zayeema is excited to be able to create a more engaging and active social media presence for the school, with the hopes to achieve much more school spirit and awareness amongst students. In addition to SAC, Zayeema has shown amazing leadership qualities as an executive member of both EcoTeam and MSA, and contributed to other school efforts as well. Zayeema looks most forward to being apart of SAC and working alongside other members to create a truly memorable school year for all of DMCI.

Vivian Taylor

As one of this year’s grade 12 reps, Vivian is determined to make this year a memorable one for DMCI, especially for the students who share it as their last. She looks forward to hearing, advocating for, and responding to the needs and wants of her peers to help create a more vivid, exciting high school experience for everyone. Apart from SAC, Vivian runs DMCI’s Art Battle Club, and actively contributes to various other student groups, including Cam’s Kids, Book Club, and Best Buddies. Vivian is thrilled to be working alongside her peers to make this year one to remember!

Chendafei Li

As a grade 11 representative for this year, Chendafei looks forward to supporting and advocating for her peers. She is determined to collaborate with the other amazing members of student council to make this a memorable year--in a good way! Chendafei is enthusiastic about helping others and will do her best to represent her grade. In addition to SAC, she has been part of Ambassadors, Orbit (yearbook), Cross Country, and Badminton, and hopes to join Peer Tutoring.
