Welcoming the 2020/2021 School Year

We would like to kindly welcome all of our students, staff and families back to the school for the start of the new school year. We do acknowledge it has not been one of the easiest school starts, but we are here to support you through these uncertain times. We thank everyone for their cooperation with our new set of COVID-19 guidelines.

A Message For Parents:

Due to current TPH regulations we do ask that parents provide students with their lunches, belongings and extra clothes at the start of the school day. At this time we will not be accepting drop-off items at the front of the building due to COVID-19 health risks. Please ensure your child is prepared and has everything they need prior to attending school in the morning.

JOB POSTING:

Wanted: Lunchroom Supervisor 

Supply hourly rate: $15.17

Temporary hourly rate (after 30 days) $20.23

(Effective September 1, 2020)

3.4% statutory holiday pay and 4% vacation pay are added to these rates

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Candidates must be available to work 3-5 days per week

1 hour and 15 minutes per day during the lunch period

This position ensures the safety and security of students during the lunch period at Elementary and Junior High Schools. 

  • Experience working with children and setting up activities and programs that are age-relevant;
  • A genuine interest in working with students;
  • Proven record of attendance and punctuality
  • Willingness to assume a wide variety of duties;
  • Ability  to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with students, parents, staff and the general public;
  • Ability to work as a team player;
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.

Entering & Exiting the Building

Before coming to school, students are expected to conduct a daily self-assessment for COVID-19 symptoms. Once in the building another screening will take place by a staff member at a designated screening area. Parents, students and staff can download the Now Mobile app for Android and iOS.

NEW: As per an update to the Operational Guidelines and the weather eventually getting colder we would like to adjust the lunch time routines.  The new routine will start on Monday November 2nd.  A 12:00pm bell will ring to indicate the cohort change.

  • Students eat lunch in the classroom

Lunch Cohort Group B (8A, 7A, 7/8A, 4/5A, 3A, ISP-BEH)

  • Outdoor activities in cohort areas

School entry bell: 8:40am

Entry supervision: 8:30am

 

ALL STAFF AND STUDENTS MUST WEAR MASKS WHILE IN THE BUILDING.

Dismissal Times Students will need to leave the school promptly after dismissal. SK/JK/GR. 7-8 @ 3:05 pm 

GR. 1-6 @ 3:20 pm.

Class & School Set-Up

Class sizes have been reduced. All kindergarten classes are capped at 15 students and grades 1-8 will be capped at 20.Cohorts will remain in the assigned class for the entire day with staggered recesses and outdoor time to minimize contact with other cohorts. Class lists will be available the first day of school.

At this time there are no access to lockers or cubbies, however we are working on a social distancing plan that allows students to use their lockers and cubbies in the near future. 

Lunch Time

Lunch will be eaten in the classroom. Please provide your child with a nutritious, litterless lunch with the necessary cutlery. All garbage will be taken home daily with the student. Please also provide your child with a water bottle.

If you need to drop off your child’s lunch, please label the lunch clearly with your child’ name and class and drop it off at the table at the front foyer of the school.

If a child is going home for lunch they must re-enter the school at 12:30pm through the front door.

We are limiting visitors to the school. If you need to pick up your child, please call the office to make arrangements 416-394-7760.
