YMCI Black History Club Presents Rise Up (February 22, 2019)
YMCI students celebrated the many achievements of Black Canadians/Americans throughout history, East/West African Dance and Reggae that have done so much to make Canada the culturally diverse, compassionate, and prosperous nation it is today.
Our MCs, Bahja Farah and Akahlia Schultz did an outstanding job introducing and showcasing our outstanding singers, choreographers, dancers and video producers at YMCI.
Some of the highlights included the following:
- Rise – sung bye Leanne Nolasco, Jamie Emmanuel, and Kassy Lino
- East African Dance Choreographers: Fatuma Daud and Warda Osman.
- East African Dancers: Faiyal Ali, Enas Abubbaker, Hanan Awal, Narmin Aim, Rebeca Mangesha, Niya Ahmed, Enair Omar
