School Council

School councils are an excellent way for parents to get involved in their child's education. Our school has an elected school council that is an important forum for involving all members of the school community in issues that affect the education of students. The school council is made up of an elected committee of parents, staff and student representatives, appointed community members, the principal, and a general membership which includes all parent of children attending the school. The school council advises the principal on a variety of issues and activities relating to student achievement, curriculum goals and priorities, school budget priorities, school safety, renovation plans, after school activities, and criteria for selection of new principals. The School Council assists the school in developing a positive communication link with home and the broader community. The School Council gets a deeper look into seeing how a school operates and gain a better understanding of the needs of the school and students. Council members learn about programs and policies of the Board of Education. The Council works collaboratively with the principal to create a learning environment that contributes to improved student achievement and performance. Being part of the School Council is an excellent way for parents to get involved in their child's education. Being a member also lets you become better acquainted with other community members and teachers.

All parents are welcome to attend all our School Council meetings, which are held in the school staffroom beginning at 6:30 p.m. A caregiver is on site if you require someone to look after your child during the meeting.
