TDSB PANFEST:
The Centre of Excellence for Black Student Achievement and TDSB Arts Department welcomes staff, students, and community to Panfest, a free evening community event that celebrates Caribbean Carnival culture through the Arts! The evening will include performances by student musicians from a variety of schools and the professional Impulse Steel Orchestra.

School Settlement Worker at Secord Elementary
Secord Elementary Public School is pleased to introduce Tahseen Alam, our School Settlement Counsellor, who supports newcomer students and their families as they settle into school life and the broader community.
Ms. Alam represents TNO – The Neighbourhood Organization and is available at Secord Elementary every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Her role is to assist newcomer families by providing free and confidential settlement support services.
She works directly with parents and students, offering information and referrals related to:

Parenting and family supports

Healthcare services
-
Employment and housing
-
Immigration and settlement resources
Ms. Alam also coordinates information sessions on topics of interest to newcomer families to help build understanding and confidence as they adjust to life in Canada.
Ms. Alam is fluent in Bengali, Hindi and Urdu, and can connect families with other settlement workers who speak more than 40 languages. Families who are new to Canada or who require settlement support ar- encouraged to connect with her at [email protected]
