Model UN Club

Model UN Club

What is the Model UN?

The United Nations is a place to talk. It is a place where member nations can discuss their problems and to solve issues peacefully and diplomatically. The Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations where students learn to develop skills of research, debate, public speaking, and empathy.

What do We Do?

In the Model UN club we meet and train to debate using the Model UN rules and procedures of debate. Once we are comfortable with the rules and procedures we go out and compete against other students/schools around Ontario and Canada.

Where and When do We Meet?

We meet every Wednesday in E15 afterschool.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Mr. Koeller and Mr. Woo

Members have participated at Model United competitions at Upper Canada College and McMaster University. On December 10th, we will be holding our annual competition at Albert Campbell with over 400 students in attendance. We hope that as the club continues to grow and students see the value in discussing current and relevant issues the important ideals of the United Nations will be upheld. Through this event students actively engage with other students and realize the importance of valuing differing opinions and cultures. Tolerance and acceptance is fostered through the running of events like this. On December10th make sure you take some time to notice the hard work of the Model United Nations club members.

SSUNS 2011
Secondary Schools United Nations Symposium
McGill University, Montreal, Quebec

This year Albert Campbell CI sent 9 delegates to compete in Montreal at SSUNS November 10-13 which is an annual event. Our students debated, devoured corned beef sandwiches, chatted about politics over French food, toured McGill University and overall had a blast!
