Connect with a Child and Youth Counsellor

Every Friday from 12-1pm, students can connect virtually with a Child and Youth Counsellor and have an opportunity to talk about their mental health, relationships, etc.

TDSB Grade 8 Summer Reach Ahead Opportunity


Grade 8 students who want to develop their work habits and learning skills in order to be best prepared for high school can choose to register for this course.  

Current TDSB Grade 8 students are eligible to register for either the TDSB Continuing Education, Remote Secondary Full Credit Summer Reach Ahead course, GLD2O1, or the e-Summer Full Credit Summer Reach Ahead course, GLD2OE.

Course Description

GLD2O1: Grade 10 – Open

Students will enhance their literacy and numeracy skills, increase their essential skills and personal development, be supported in their transition to secondary school and develop friendships through positive relationship building.

There are 2 delivery models, one through summer school, and one through elearing.


Secondary Credit- GLD2O1 

When: July 5th - 30th, 2021, 20 days

Time: 9:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. (Note: Attendance is mandatory daily from 9:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.)

The Grade 8 Reach Ahead course GLD2O1 is being offered through the continuing education department in a Remote learning model. Our remote model requires mandatory daily attendance from 9:00 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. Attendance will be taken and students are expected to be learning synchronously with their teacher and classmates. In our Remote Learning model students will be at home learning live with their teacher daily from 9:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m and again from 12:30 p.m.- 3:15 p.m. Remote Learning Model



Sessions: July and August 

When:  July 5 - July 29, 19 days

             August 3 - 27, 19 days

Time: This Grade 9 Reach Ahead course, GLD2OE, is being offered through e-Learning in both July and August e-Summer programs. The course is delivered daily through a flexible schedule that includes both synchronous and asynchronous learning. The teacher will establish synchronous class times with their students. Students should plan to allocate about six hours daily to this course. 


For either site, please read the registration material and parental permission process very carefully.  The students' current Grade 8 school will be approving the courses.
