Welcome!

The guidance department at Bloor Collegiate is a safer, welcoming and supportive space for students during your years in high school. We welcome our Bloor families and caregivers to visit us when you can.

Our work is based on the belief that students can learn to their full potential and that all students can be successful with the right supports. Bloor Collegiate believes in fostering learning environments where students feel valued, reflected, connected to and actively supported by caring adults within the school community.

Volunteer Hours

New Grade 9 students in September 2023 are able to work towards their 40 community hours this summer and bring in their forms or letters in September. Please remember to volunteer with a non-profit organization!

Students who complete more than 25 community service hours with one organization should ask for a reference letter. This will help you to build portfolios in careers class or when looking for employment in the future. The letter should be on letterhead from the organization, and include the following:

  • The number of hours
  • The dates or time span the hours were earned within
  • If possible, a description of the tasks or duties completed
  • If possible, a description of the skills learned with this position
  • If possible, any commendations of outstanding works
  • Contact information

If you have any questions or the organization is unable to write a letter, then please get in touch. You can look for community hour opportunities, including virtual opportunities at volunteertoronto.ca

Due to ongoing community limitations related to COVID-19, graduating students need only have 20 hours of community service this school year.
