Opportunities for Learning

The Arts

We have organized our timetables to provide our students with a variety of Arts activiities during teacher prep time. Our students in K-3 all have dance, drama and music delivered by a teacher trained in those areas.

Academic Achievement

The Crestview students are very dedicated to learning in every area of the curriculum. The have consistenltly demonstrated through their report card marks and through EQAO results that they are focused on high achievement. All our students work hard and contribute to our goal of becoming the best we can be.

Character Matters

At the beginning of the school year every student receives a certificate to place Winnits earned for demonstrating characteristics such as honesty empathy, teamwork, perseverance, fairness, respect, kindness and caring, cooperation, and integrity.

Preparing Students for Their World

EcoSchool

As a certified EcoSchool, we are focused on nurturing environmental leaders, reducing the ecological impact of schools, and building environmentally responsible school communities. We have worked together at reducing our use of energy by turning off lights and computer monitors. We have also reduced the amount of waste and recycling we produce.

Integrating Technology

At Crestview we want to ensure that our students are provided with multiple opportunities to use technology for learning. Our library Learning Commons has a resource centre with a large computer lab and a digital projector for student instruction. Every classroom is equipped with technology to support learning, including Chromebooks, iPads, desktops, laptops, digital projectors and some Promethean interactive boards. Recently, we purchased document cameras for our kindergarten classroooms. Finally, Crestview recognized that students and families benefit from software that enables children to improve their literacy skills, such as RazKids. To that end, we have purchased licenses so students can access these literacy resources at school and at home.
