Student Nutrition Program "Beatty's Bistro"

launch april 28

The Earl Beatty Student Nutrition Program will be launching in April (Start date to be confirmed). The program will provide a small healthy meal/snack to all of our students. This program supports students' health and well-being and their daily learning. Studies have shown that a nutritious meal at the start of the day helps improve students’ academic success.

Getting Involved

We have established a small team of volunteers to support the launch and ongoing operation of the program.  We will need the ongoing support of volunteers to help with food preparation, distributing food to students, cleaning and tidying, and helping with weekly planning.

We are also looking for parents who would like to join the Student Nutrition Committee. This committee will support our coordinator in:

- decisions regarding food vendors

-considerations surrounding the distribution of the food

-decisions around the management of food waste

- sharing information with our school community/EBSAC

-supporting and communicating decisions related to donations and allocations of funds raised

Program Details

This year’s program will run until June 2026. It will resume in September for the 26/27 school year. The snacks will be offered in the morning.

Students will be served food items from 2/3 food groups: fruits/vegetables, whole grains, and protein (such as dairy, cheese, or yogurt). We will follow the provincial Nutrition Guidelines for student nutrition programs.

Participation

All students are included regardless of financial contribution. If you do not wish your child to be part of the program, please contact [email protected] .
