Fleming Public School’s Policy on Bullying Prevention and Intervention:

To create a school environment that is safe for students both physically and psychologically, by:

  • Stopping the behaviour – Bullying prevention will be enforced by ALL staff members. All staff employ a direct, clear and firm approach for unacceptable behaviour with an emphasis on problem solving and student accountability. Staff will use behaviour and classroom management practices, which are consistent with our aims of bullying prevention.
  • Students taking positive action – Students will help each other deal with bullying in an appropriate manner. Students, who are being bullied know of someone being bullied, will immediately report it to a staff member.
  • Staff and students providing an inclusive environment where everyone values co-operation and understanding.
  • Developing an emphasis on equity and anti-bias education to create a caring and supportive community within the school.

Communication between home and school: Students, staff, parents/guardians are asked to bring concerns to school staff as they become known.

The purpose of the committee is to: 1. Review and address issues of school safety. and 2. Develop, implement and monitor school improvement goals related to Student Well-being and Equity with students, staff, and parents.
