School Advisory Council Elections 2020-2021

School Councils are a great way for parents/guardians to become engaged in the school.
The purpose of the council is “to improve student achievement and enhance the accountability of the education system to parents(Reg.612/2.1) through active parent engagement.
Election of Council Parent/Guardian Representatives
- There are 10 vacant positions for parent/guardian representatives on council that sit for a term of one year.
- All parent(s)/guardian(s) with children in our school are eligible to be elected for the school council.
- A person is not qualified to be a parent member of council if he or she is employed at the school or not employed at the school but is employed elsewhere by the Board, unless he or she takes reasonable steps to inform people qualified to vote in the election of parent members of that employment.
- Nomination forms are due ONLINE/in the main office no later than 9:00 am on Monday, November 9th, 2020.
- The list of candidates and a brief biography (if provided) will be posted on the school website ( Fleming Public School ) under Upcoming Community Meetings on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020
Elections Evening
- Only parents/guardians of currently registered children attending Fleming Public School can participate in the voting process.
- The election shall be by secret ballot the evening of Wednesday, November 18th, 2020 at 6:30 pm
- Should only 10 names or less be brought forward, those individuals will be acclaimed.
- Successful candidates will be notified by Principal Chadha and posted on the school website.
Nomination Forms have been emailed to all families today via School Messenger (Wednesday, November 4th, 2020). Paper copies are limited and discouraged due to the current Covid-19 pandemic BUT are available upon request from the office (please do so in writing by sending an email to FlemingPS@tdsb.on.ca, or by speaking with your child’s teacher).
