Principal Update-October 25, 2019
We hope you have had the chance to meet “Patch” our Mackie Halloween Mascot! Patch the Giant Pumpkin has been generously donated and delivered by the Dainard family and we are all having a great time inquiring into Patches weight/mass.Students are all taking part in a contest that provides them an opportunity to “Guess Patch’s Mass”.Be sure to come by the school and take a selfie or family photo with Patch! Our Superintendent, Shirley Chan and did not miss the opportunity to tweet about our great gourd! Check us out on Twitter @GPMackie
Halloween-On Thursday, October 31-our students will have an opportunity to share in the Halloween Spirit of fun. Students are welcome to wear costumes to school if they would like. Masks can be uncomfortable and dangerous so if your child would like to wear a mask, please ensure he/she brings the mask to school. We also remind students not to bring toy weapons of any kind into school (even if they are a costume prop) LIn the morning we will have a kindergarten parade through the school that will culminate in the gym and celebrate the “Big Win”, as we announce the winner of the Patch the Pumpkin Weight Contest.
Safety Reminder!!-Please do not send treats to be shared with your child’s class and friends. Allergies and food restrictions do not make this possible. And while we discourage students bringing a lot of candy to school, if they are bringing a treat of their own with their snack and lunch, please ensure it is clearly indicated “nut free”.We are very grateful for your diligent support of this initiative.
SIP-our staff are continuing to build upon our School Improvement Goals of Achievement in Literacy in Math, Equity and Well Being.Student, staff and parents have input into this plan. If you would like to discuss our School Improvement goals with me, please call and I would be happy to discuss them with you. Our SIP is also reviewed in the Principal Report, which is part of our School Council Agenda each month. All Mackie parents are welcome to attend! Our next meeting is Tuesday November 5, at 6 pm.
SOES-Our Grade 6 students have returned from Kearney with many great stories of adventures to tell. Thank you to Mr. Stafford and Ms. Song for providing this fantastic outdoor learning opportunity for our students.
