Bette Stevenson Award

Dr. Bette Stevenson Award of Excellence

image of awardGracedale Public School has been awarded the 2014 Dr. Bette Stephenson Recognition of Achievement Award!  We are one of 27 schools in the province of Ontario to receive this special honour!  We were chosen for the award by EQAO who analyzed student achievement data and recognized that there has been significant improvement in our school’s EQAO test results over the past several years.  Our school has been recognized by EQAO for its leadership, use of evidence-informed instructional strategies to help students learn and for our sincere effort to help every child strive for high levels of academic achievement.   It also recognizes the strong partnership that we value so much between home and school and our belief that children must have a supportive learning environment.
A representative from EQAO visited our school last spring to interview us.  Our story was written by EQAO and published on their web site. We hope you will access the article written about our school by going to EQAO website  Click on School Stories (on the left hand side of the screen) and then choose Gracedale Public School.

It has been exciting to have our school story published on the EQAO website and to receive the Dr. Bette Stevenson Recognition of Achievement award.  As staff, parents and students, we have all worked hard to make Gracedale the school that it is today and we will continue to strive to promote excellence in teaching and to create a warm, welcoming, caring and safe school environment.

Gracedale excels in EQAO

Well done Gracedale students and staff!  Our grade 3 students continue to surpass the Board and Provincial achievement levels again this year in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.  See Gracedale P.S. results below.

Gracedale Public School Story on the EQAO Website

Gracedale is one of 27 schools in the province of Ontario that has been chosen by EQAO this year to have our story shared on the EQAO website as a School on the Journey of Learning.  Our school was chosen because there has been significant improvement in EQAO scores over the past several years.  The trend in our student achievement data over time on provincial assessments shows that successful programs and strategies are being used in our school.  EQAO has communicated that schools that are chosen are “notable for their leadership, proactive initiative, data driven strategies and whole school approaches to help every child succeed.”

We hope you will take some time to read the Gracedale Public School EQAO success story.
