Dress Code at Greenholme

The appropriate dress policy at Greenholme reflects the mission of the Toronto District School Board to provide “Learning environments that are safe, nurturing, positive and respectful”. Each day, we expect all students to wear appropriate clothing that is neat, clean, and appropriate for the weather. This Policy supports a positive learning environment where we can continue to develop a sense of self-esteem, self-discipline, and self-confidence in every child. All the students are expected to dress respectfully in a way that upholds the moral tone and the diversity of our community.

As a school community, we have made a decision to move away from the full uniform policy at Greenholme to a dress code policy which includes certain colours. As of September 2016, students can continue to wear their school uniform. In addition, we are asking students to wear the following solid colours to school:Uniform

Tops-long or short sleeve white, dark green or yellow
Bottoms-pants, skirts, walking shorts that are black, navy blue or grey
• Bottoms can be fleece or jeans ( no rips, tears)
• All pants must be worn at the waist
• pair of securely fastened indoor shoes to change into at school

The full cooperation of students and parents in matters related to dress and personal appearance is expected. Parents will be contacted and then will be responsible for providing a change of clothing for students arriving at school dressed inappropriately. The principal reserves the right to exercise discretion to allow exceptions to the school dress code (eg. Health, religious, cultural reasons).

Inappropriate dress at Greenholme includes:
• Short shorts, short skirts, no leggings worn on its own, short tops or clothing which leaves undergarments visible.
• Tops with very thin or no straps
• Footwear with wheels, flip flops, sandals
• Clothing that displays inappropriate pictures or language(foul language or pictures of tobacco, alcohol, or illegal drugs)
• Hats, hoodies, bandannas or headgear in the school, except for religious or medical reasons
• Any clothing, accessories or style or wearing an item of clothing that supports or reflects gang involvement
• Outerwear worn inside the classroom (These items may be stored in designated area during indoor time)
