Applications are now open for 2025/26!

The application process is open for 2025-2026 applications. Horizon has limited spots available for Grade 8 as well as a full class for Grade 7. The online application form for both entries for 2025-2026 is open as of 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025 and closes Friday, January 31, at 4pm.

Key Dates

Monday, January 6, 2025 - Online applications open in the morning.

Friday, January 31, 2025 - Online applications close at 4:00 pm. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.

Friday, February 21, 2025 - Placement Offers, Round 1 will be sent before the end of the school day.

Wednesday, February 26, 2025 - Offers must be accepted or declined by 4:00 p.m. If you do not accept or decline the offer of placement on or before the February 26, 2025 deadline, the offer will be automatically declined. The child will then attend their home school by home address.

Thursday, February 27, 2025 - Placement Offers, Round 2 will be sent at the end of the school day. The Waitlist will then be closed.

Tuesday, March 4, 2025 - Offers must be accepted or declined by 4:00 pm. If you do not accept or decline the offer of placement on or before the March 4, 2025 deadline, the offer will be automatically declined. The child will attend their designated school by home address.

While the central process allows for applications to be processed, we would love to receive an email to horizon_alt@hotmail.com about why you (the student) wishes to attend Horizon. This is optional; however, it provides us with insight into why students are looking at the Horizon program.

How Do I Apply?

TDSB has a wide range of Elementary Alternative Schools available to students. Families are encouraged to research schools and programs to learn about the educational philosophy and distinct pedagogy before completing the online application.

Elementary Alternative Schools will hold information sessions and/or open houses for students, parents/guardians/caregivers from November to January. Visit the Elementary School Open Houses and Information Nights web page for dates and times. If the school is not hosting an open house or information session, please contact the school directly for information about the Elementary Alternative School.

Note: Student’s Primary Home Address is the address where the applicant is currently residing. If you own property in Toronto, but tenants reside at this property, you may not use this address as a claim of Toronto residency. You must apply based on the current address where you live. If your current TDSB school does not have this address on record, please provide them with documentation to support the proof of residency immediately.
