Jean Lumb Public School
FINAL Friday File for the 2019/2020 School Year
Friday, June 26, 2020
I know it has not been the school year any of us had planned. Through all of the uncertainty, changes in location, period of school closure - we have all worked together to build our Jean Lumb Public School Community. We will continue to work to live up to our namesake’s legacy of community building and social justice work.
I have enjoyed getting to know your children and all of you. I look forward to getting to know all of you even better and working with you next school year - in whatever way school will happen next year!
Please note that the school office will be closed from July 4 to August 30. We will listen to messages left on our school phone once the office reopens on August 31.
The first day for students in the 2020/2021 school year is TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2020.
Class lists will be shared on Friday, September 4, 2020
What will school look like in September?
Last week the Ontario government announced the guidelines for back to school in September. Last Friday you received a letter from our Director of Education, Dr. John Malloy. This letter includes the most up-to-date information.
School boards have been asked to submit their plans to the Ministry of Education by August 4, 2020 and the TDSB is committed to sharing plans with school communities once they’re approved, prior to the start of school. The TDSB wants to ensure that all students and families are well prepared and know what to expect when returning to school in September.
Information will be provided throughout the summer months. Please follow TDSB on Twitter (@TDSB) to stay up-to-date. I will try to send updates as much as I can over the summer months.
Communication of Learning (Kindergarten) and Report Cards (Grades 1 to 8)
Some families are still experiencing difficulties accessing or have not yet received report cards. The TDSB is aware of the issues and is working on a resolution with the vendor. Some reports have been delayed until next week. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Have Your Say about Remote Learning and Returning to School
(Deadline to complete - June 30)
The TDSB wants to hear from you - please complete this short caregiver survey.
Students in Grades 7-12 are invited to complete this short student survey.
Welcome to Kindergarten
Usually we hold a Welcome to Kindergarten event in May to welcome all of our new learners. Due to the school closure, and the uncertainty around what school will look like in September, we were holding off on sharing information.
We’ve decided to share what we know and introduce some general information about Kindergarten with our learners. On Monday we will be e-mailing the families with children starting Kindergarten with our Welcome to Kindergarten package. Thank you for your patience.
Congratulations to our Grade 8 graduates, farewell to our students who are moving on to other schools … and to the rest of you….we look forward to seeing you on September 8h!
Enjoy this video and these photo collages!
On behalf of all of the staff at Jean Lumb PS we would like to thank you for all of your support this year
You entrust us with your most precious treasures and please know that we take this responsibility very seriously.
Have a wonderful summer break.
Judith Kramer, Proud Principal of Jean Lumb PS
